Adoption Update!

1. Our Bonfire T-shirt Sale has ended. We sold a total of 43 products and raised $519.82 total from all three campaigns we did. This is huge for us! We planned for this last time we released it to be the last but if we have enough people say that they want one we will release it again. For them to print,  5 shirts have to be ordered.

2. So far from the 300 for $100 campaign we have raised around $950. Incase you didn't know about this campaign the details are below.

-300 for $100 Campaign:
We are asking that 300 people give an average of $100 dollars. We realize that not everyone is able to give and not everyone is able to give $100 but we are asking you to pray that God blesses this campaign. We are also asking you to share this blog post! We will be releasing a graphic about this fundraiser in the next day or two. We would be forever grateful if you'd share the graphic on all social media sites. You never know who will feel led to be a part of our journey.

Best ways to give to the campaign:
1. AdoptTogether: We now have an active profile on AdoptTogether. Any donations made through AdoptTogether should be tax deductible. We receive roughly 95% of all donations made through them. Our profile link is adopttogether.org/drewanddelaney You may also mail a check made payable to AdoptTogether with Andrew & Delaney Dunnam in the memo and on the envelope. Mail checks to: 251 W Central Ave. #278 Springboro, OH 45066
2. You can donate directly to us by mailing us a check. Email me for our address at delaneydunnam@gmail.com

3. We are still selling puzzle pieces. If you'd like to adopt a puzzle piece they are $20 a piece and we will write your name on the back. The puzzle is currently hanging in the nursery in a double sided glass frame.

We are about 23% of the way to being fully funded.

Adoption News

1. We have received 3 situations this month. We have only chose to present to one of the situations (they chose another family) but we feel so blessed to have been able to see each of these situations and pray over them. Those expectant moms and babies are in our prayers even though they weren't the baby God has planned for our family.

2. We have our first adoption shower this weekend honoring the future baby D. We are so excited about this and can't wait to celebrate with all of our friends and family.

3. Even though we are working with a consultant, we could still potentially match not through them. We are asking you to keep us in mind if you or someone you know is considering adoption for their child.

Update!

Where are we at in the process right now?
We are officially active with 5 different agencies/lawyers. We did our last consultation on 1/11/17.

What is a situation?
A situation is basically information about the birth family. We can look at the information and choose whether or not we want to present our profile. The way this works is the agency or lawyer meets with the birth family to get their desired criteria for the family they want for their baby. Then the agency or lawyer will look at their active families to see which ones fit the birth families criteria. After they do this they send all of the non identifying information to the adoptive families and the adoptive families either choose to present their profile or choose not to present their profile to that birth family.

Have you started to see situations?
We have began to see birth parent situations. We have presented to one birth parent and received our first no. The no's are hard but we know that God will give us the baby that he has planned for our family.

What is the wait time from now until we get a baby?
We don't really know. Our consultants have an average wait time of 6 to 10 months. It could be more or it could be less. It all depends on when we see a situation that we think is a good fit for us and if we are chosen by the birth family to parent the baby.

Where are we in the financial aspects of adoption?
We have raised/saved approximately 22% of our total fundraising goal. We still have about $30,000 to raise to avoid taking out loans. We have been approved for an interest free adoption loan from Pathways for Little Feet. This loan will bring us to about 40% of our total goal.

What can you do to help?
1. Pray for us and our future birth family
2. Consider supporting us financially. We have several fundraisers going on right now.

In the wait

We are in a season of waiting right now. We are waiting to receive situations from one of the places we applied to. Once we receive a situation we have to decide if we want to present to that birth family. For us this looks like a lot of prayer and waiting on an answer from God. When we decide to present on a situation we will be waiting to here if we were chosen or not. If we don't get chosen we will go back to waiting on situations to come in. If we do get chosen we will be waiting on the baby to make his or her entrance into the world.

Anyone that knows me (Delaney) knows that I'm not really a patient person. Once I've made my mind up about something I will do everything I can to make it happen as quick as I can. Adoption doesn't really happen like that. Sure there are parts of the process that are up to how quickly we get our parts done such as the home study process and applying to agencies/lawyers to become active with them. But there is also a lot of trusting that God has the perfect baby for us at the perfect time.

Right now, we are in the season of waiting where there just isn't a lot to do. We are fundraising and applying for grants and loans. We also have a baby suitcase & diaper bag packed with essientials if we were to get a fast placement. We have gotten everything that would be required for an out of state stay for 2 weeks or longer

I'm not sure if we have talked about it on the blog or not but we will have an out of state stay of 2 or more weeks while we wait on ICPC to clear us to cross state lines. We will have to be cleared by the state the baby is born in to cross there state lines and then by the state we live in to bring the baby into our state. We have a good idea of what state we will be in based on where we have applied to but we won't be releasing those details until we match or later because it could change.

We are so thankful to be at this part of the process. We began our home study on 10/5/16 and received our approved home study on 12/17/16. In the last 3 weeks we have been applying to agencies and lawyers (hello, more paperwork!) We are officially active with 3 agency/lawyers, and will be active with one more after this week.

If you'd like more information on our fundraisers you can read our last post! Also don't forget our campaign going on now! We are praying for every person that sees this graphic about how God would desire to use them in Adoption!
